A tribute to Felix Whitham field meeting and part of Yorkshire Geology Month 2010. Booking required. Saturday 29th May - Mappleton "Fossil Fossick" led by Stuart Jones for Yorkshire Geology Month 2010. Booking required. Sunday 4th July - field meeting - Hellworth Beck in the North York Moors, led by Paul Hildreth. Saturday 28th August - Roadshow at Hornsea Museum. Organised by Stuart Jones. Open to the public from 11 am until 3 pm. Sorry, no valuations. Disabled access is very good and families are most welcome. Admission to the Roadshow is free, but there may be a charge for visiting the Museum. Saturday 11th September - field meeting - Whitby and Whitby Museum, with a fish and chips lunch led by Paul Hildreth. Saturday 2nd October - Hildenley Quarries and Brows Hill Quarry led by Richard Myerscough (a tribute to Felix Whitham field meeting) Sunday 10th October - field meeting to South Landing led by Mike Horne (a tribute to Felix Whitham field meeting). Saturday 30th October - "Quaternary Techniques Workshop" led by Mike Horne, Rodger Connell and Stuart Jones (booking required before 1st October, there may be a small fee) Saturday 27th November - "Microfossils Workshop" led by Mike Horne, Patty McAlpin and Stuart Jones (booking required, there may be a small fee) For further information 'phone 01482 346784. Winter lecture meetings start at 7-30 p.m. and are held in the Department of Geography, University of Hull (unless otherwise stated). Non-members are welcome to attend but please arrive before the start of the meeting . If you arrive late the building may be locked for security reasons and you will not be able to get in, particularly if we are using the first floor lecture theatres. If we are in the ground floor lecture theatre you can knock on the window and we will let you in. The Microscopy Evenings are for members only , sorry ! Members should contact the Secretary for further details.Here is a link to a Map of the University of Hull campus Please contact the Society if you wish to come to a field meeting so that the leaders will know how many people to expect. The Society reserves the right to exclude people who are not wearing the necessary protective clothing/equipment. For further information 'phone 01482 346784.
