Sunday 1st May - (field meeting) Speeton - led by Jack Doyle and Mike Horne. Booking required - details will be given when you book.

Thursday 5th May - (evening lecture) Roger Sutcliffe - "Limestone, the only rock you can see from the inside". Part of Yorkshire Geology Month 2011.

Tuesday 10th May - (evening walk) - "Stones and Bones" in Spring Bank Cemetery. Booking required - details will be given when you book. Part of Yorkshire Geology Month 2011.

Saturday 14th May - geological boat trip - North Landing to High Stacks organised by Stuart Jones (booking and prepayment required)

Saturday 21st May - "A walk on the Woldside" - geological walk in the Thixendale area led by Derek Gobbett. Part of Yorkshire Geology Month 2011. Click here for more details.

Saturday 4th June - field trip - Bolton Abbey led by John Varker.

Sunday 19th June - research fieldwork visit to Skipsea led by Rod Towse & Stuart Jones.

Sunday 26th June - Family visit to Scarborough and the Rotunda Museum organised by Terry Rockett. Meet at the Rotunda Museum at 11am; admission charge for adults, under 18s free.

Saturday 16th July - Roadshow at the Treasure House in Beverley. Free admission. Sorry no valuations. Open to the public from 11 am until 3pm.

[details for Walk on the Woldside : Saturday 21st May - "A Walk on the Woldside" - A geological walk in Thixendale led by Derek Gobbett, on public footpaths to look at the scenery and geomorphology of a typical Chalk Wold area. Walking about 6 km with some steep slopes. Meet at the Cross Keys pub in Thixendale (grid ref. SE845 611) at 2pm; lasts about 3 hours. Parking is available in the lane near the pub. Walking boots desirable but not essential, and bring rain wear if you think it will rain.

Winter lecture meetings start at 7-30 p.m. and are held in the Department of Geography, University of Hull (unless otherwise stated). Non-members are welcome to attend but please arrive before the start of the meeting . If you arrive late the building may be locked for security reasons and you will not be able to get in, particularly if we are using the first floor lecture theatres. If we are in the ground floor lecture theatre you can knock on the window and we will let you in.

The Microscopy Evenings are for members only , sorry ! Members should contact the Secretary for further details.
