Thursday 16th October - Dr Lynda Yorke - "Deglaciation of Northumberland: an example from the Tyne Valley "

Saturday 25th October - joint afternoon meeting with the Yorkshire Geological Society - "North Sea Exploration - a review" OR "Geology south of the Humber, down Lincolnshire way", starting at 2pm. Please check website for further details before attending.

Thursday 6th November - Prof Mark Seaward - "The Amazing Mr. Sheppard".

Thursday 11th December. - Simon Kitcher - "Holocene Palaeoenvironments of the White Peak Region, Derbyshire, Northern England".

Thursday 22nd January 2009 - (lecture) "The rising waters" by Prof Lynne Frostick of Hull University and President of the Geological Society (of London) about climate change and flooding.

Thursday 12th February - Prof Pete Rawson - The Lynden Emery Memorial Lecture - "The Speeton Clay"

Thursday 19th March - Will Watts - "Rotunda, the William Smith Museum of Geology, its history and redevelopment" and the Annual General Meeting.

Meetings will be held in the Department of Geography at the University of Hull. All winter evening meetings will start at 7-30 p.m. Members are welcome to bring guests to meetings.

Winter lecture meetings start at 7-30 p.m. and are held in the Department of Geography, University of Hull (unless otherwise stated). Non-members are welcome to attend but please arrive before the start of the meeting . If you arrive late the building may be locked for security reasons and you will not be able to get in, particularly if we are using the first floor lecture theatres. If we are in the ground floor lecture theatre you can knock on the window and we will let you in.

The Microscopy Evenings are for members only , sorry ! Members should contact the Secretary for further details.
